Library
The
library at the National College of Art has one of the largest collections
of books, periodical, rare manuscripts and slides (transparencies)
on the visual arts in Pakistan. Borrowing facilities are available
only to regular students of the College in accordance with the regulations
of the library. The Foundation Course students and visitors may consult
the library for reference. The library is open for 12 hours on working
days (except Fridays when it closes at 12:00 Noon) and is closed during
holidays except for part of the summer vacations. There are photo-copying
facilities in the library for the use of the students.
The College library also houses a special collection dating back to
nineteenth century in the Mian Abdul Majeed Archives Room. There is
a growing Audio Visual Library as well as a selection of slides for
the students to work from. One of the aims of the College library
is the collection of slides on the work of thesis students, of past
and present years, to enrich the bank of information that currently
enrolled students necessarily need to consult before submitting their
final proposals.
In addition to the facility of the College library students are assisted
in making use of other public libraries in Lahore, such as the Punjab
Public Library, the Quaid-e-Azam Library, the Alliance Francaise Library,
the American Center Library and the British Council Library.
