BACKGROUND (Department of Multimedia Arts)


Keeping in mind the necessity to meet the latest developments in the IT field, NCA initiated the Post-Graduate Centre in Multimedia Arts (PGCMA) in 2001. The Master’s Program was initiated with the purpose to help bring Pakistani students at par with prevailing international standards of Visual Arts education in the wake of phenomenal developments in information technology world over. Since then the students of Multimedia Master’s Program have shown excellent results both academically and professionally. Almost all the student after qualifying have been inducted in private channels, animation/production houses and advertising companies, since the Multimedia Master’s Program trained the student for multi-faceted careers in multimedia industry, therefore the students have no problem being absorbed in media industry.

The PGCMA has raised the level of multimedia application in all professional areas like video production, multimedia authoring, interactive design, special effects, animation, digital photography etc. Masters Programme was developed with the technical assistance from French Government and Ecole Superieure D’Art, Aix-en-Provence, France and this collaboration has brought a very healthy change in teaching methodology; which has now become more interactive, where student and teacher work hand in hand to deal with rapid speed of growth in this field of media.

In the recent years the speed of change both technical and mental approach has been extreme, and the need of skilled person in this field have grown many folds, keeping this in mind National College of Arts has initiated a new program of Short Courses of 6 months duration in Animation, Video Production, Digital Photography and Computer Graphics, with purpose to develop Human Resource for this ever growing field, with the prime purpose to join hands with Government on its promise to impart purposeful education to the youth of Pakistan for their better future.
