Post Graduate Centre for Multimedia Art is offering Postgraduate Degrees, Diploma and short course in Multimedia disciplines. These programmes are versatile and offer opportunities for students from different backgrounds. These disciplines of multimedia will enable students particularly from the industry to enhance their knowledge in an effective way.

NCA offers the following courses under the programme:

CAREER OPTIONS

Career options include positions in digital media, information architecture, interaction design, new media, web design, web development and web project management, animation, including animation for the Internet, architecture, character design, computer game software design, experimental animation, feature film production, film and television graphics, special effects and storyboard design. Various events are organised throughout the year to give students the opportunity to speak with industry professionals, including recruiters.

Aims and Objectives

To produce multimedia professionals who can apply professional skills creatively and ethically for problem-solving through applied research and comprehension of theoretical and philosophical underpinning.


Introduction

Keeping in view the necessity to meet the latest developments in Information Technology, NCA initiated a Masters, Post-Graduate Diploma and several short courses in Multimedia Arts. Multimedia Arts can be distinguished as a blend of traditional styles of visual arts making a particular art form more dynamic. The programme helps Pakistani students to come at par with prevailing international standards of Visual Arts education in the wake of phenomenal development in Information Technology.

The programme enables students to complement their previous studies and work experience with knowledge and skills in design and development of multimedia products. It prepares graduates for multi-faceted careers in the multimedia industryand opens up opportunities to develop and apply teamwork, project management skills and business planning expertise through industry based multimedia projects.

Multimedia art is an innovative discipline which seeks to unify a large range of artforms. The programme provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the rapidly developing field of Multimedia and enables them tocreate and critically evaluate interactive Multimedia applications. It raises thelevel of multimedia application in all professional areas such as video production, multimedia authoring, interactive design, game design and animation. The coursesprepare students for multi-faceted careers in the multimedia industry. NCA set up the programme with financial assistance from the Punjab Information Technology Board and technical assistance from the French Government and the EcoleSupérieure D’art D’Aix-en-Provence, France.

Admission Requirements

Minimum 16 years of education in disciplines of Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, Musicology, Film & Television or Equivalent qualification in the relevant field with minimum 60% marks from HEC recognised educational institution.





EXAMINATION AND EVALUATION

1. In theory courses, which comprise of 10 credits, the students will be required to work on assignments and presentations which will count for 50% of the total marks. The rest of the 50% marks will count Final exam. The students will be assessed according to the following criteria:

• Knowledge and Understanding of the Subject
• Research Skills

2. In Studio courses (26 credits), students are required to work on individual/group projects, which will consist of a body of work to be progressively marked. The assessment criteria will be as follows:

• Communication
• Skills
• Originality
• Coordination
• Production Management
• Idea, Time and Resources Management

3. By the end of the programme, students will be required to produce a body of work and write a Research Report (8000-10000 words), which will be assessed on the basis of 1) Conceptual Clarity, 2) Idea Development, 3) Comprehension and Understanding, 4) Critical and Analytical abilities, 5) Originality and Creativity, 6) Consistency in Style (Chicago)
