We find ourselves at a defining moment in history, where rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and global connectivity are reshaping the way we create, learn and engage with the world. While these developments are transforming creative practices and expanding the possibilities of artistic expression, they also reaffirm the importance of human imagination, critical thinking and cultural understanding. In these changing times, I believe that NCA plays a pivotal role in ensuring that innovation remains grounded in ethics, empathy and a deep appreciation of our shared heritage.

For decades, the National College of Arts has nurtured generations of artists, architects, designers, filmmakers, and musicians who have enriched our society through their creativity and intellectual contributions. By encouraging experimentation alongside academic rigor, NCA has consistently fostered an environment where talent can thrive and diverse perspectives can find expression.

A landmark achievement in this continuing journey was the inaugural NCA Triennale, held last year, the first initiative of its kind undertaken by any educational institution in Pakistan. The Triennale opened new avenues for artistic dialogue and collaboration, bringing together practitioners, scholars and audiences in a celebration of contemporary creative practices. Its continuation in the years ahead promises to further strengthen Pakistan’s cultural discourse and international engagement.

Recognizing the importance of creativity as an agency of social and economic development, the Government of Pakistan remains committed to strengthening educational opportunities that encourage innovation, skills development, and interdisciplinary learning. Through continued investments in higher education, the promotion of emerging fields of study and support for initiatives that bridge education with industry and community, efforts are being made to prepare young people for the challenges and possibilities of the future. Creative education occupies a significant place within this vision, as it nurtures the ingenuity and adaptability required in today’s knowledge and skillbased economies.

I extend my appreciation to the faculty, students, alumni and leadership of the National College of Arts for their dedication and perseverance in advancing the cause of arts education in Pakistan.
